History of the Foundation
In 1968, the Bixby family deeded the 7.5-acre site to the City of Long Beach. The City opened the site to the public in 1970, and the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation was formed in 1984 to operate and restore the site with the goal of preserving it for the benefit of the broadest possible community. In 1986 the Foundation officially assumed responsibility of the Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch House & Gardens, which averages over 20,000 visitors each year. Our Commitment The Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation endorses and supports the Framework for Reconciliation adopted by the City of Long Beach on June 23, 2020. The Foundation commits to supporting and modeling an inclusive, equitable, and diverse organization and community. |
